Warranty Details:
This warranty is applicable to the initial purchaser only and is non-transferable. If products are procured through authorized Humanscale dealerships, the end-user customer must be registered with Humanscale for the warranty to be in effect. Humanscale warrants that, at the time of customer's receipt, the product will be in good working order and will be free from defects in material and workmanship. This warranty does not apply to normal wear and tear or damage caused by accident, neglect, misuse or improper installation or operation. Humanscale will not be responsible for damage due to service, maintenance, modifications or tampering by anyone other than a Humanscale authorized representative.
In the event a product is defective and Humanscale receives written notice of the defect within the warranty period, Humanscale, at its option, will either repair or replace the defective product. Humanscale, at its option, will either repair or replace the defective product. This warranty does not cover damage caused by a carrier or transportation of the product from one location to another, or alterations made by owner.
Limitation of Liability

Why do the Humanscale M4 and M7 monitor arms have so many options? It's hard to configure! Indeed, Humanscale's M4 and M7 product lines have numerous options, which makes them one of the most adjustable, stable and elegant line of flat panel monitor arms on the market. To make things simpler we have put a number of the most popular pre-configured systems on our site. Product experts will appreciate the Build-Your-Own models, which offer the versatility to design your perfect system.
What is a “link” and how does it compare to a monitor “arm”?
The term link is used to refer to monitor arms that are made up with two individual sections via a joint. To understand, visualize the human arm and its elbow and the range of motion that design affords. Note that there are single arm systems, and that there are some configuration limitations.
In what colors are the M4 available?
The M4 is currently available in black and silver in the pre-configured models. Polished aluminum is only available on the Build-Your-Own models.
How much weight will the M4 flat panel monitor arms support?
The M4 line of arms is designed to support flat panel monitors weighing 5 to 20 lbs. (Note that the M7 will support up to 30 lbs.)
Can an M4 Monitor Arm be attached directly to a wall?
The M4 can be mounted directly to a wood, metal, concrete or other highly stable wall surface using six screws. If you wish to mount the M4 directly to sheetrock, you will need to use the Universal Wall Mount for single monitors, or the Standard Wall stud for multiple monitor systems. Note that there is a limit of one monitor for M4 wall-mount configurations.
Can the M4 be attached directly to a slatwall?
Yes, Humanscale has a Universal Slat Wall mount (S2) that supports single monitors, and works with most slatwall manufacturers.
To what degree do the flat panel monitor arms swivel?
The M4 arms swivel 360 degrees around their base.
What is the maximum number of monitors that the M4 system can hold?
As a desk mount the M4 can support one or two monitors. Wall mounts and slatwall configurations are limited to one monitor.
What kinds of add-ons are available with the M4 system?
The M4 series has a number of attractive and useful options such as the Front End Adjuster, which mounts behind the monitor and allows an additional 6” of vertical adjustment. Other popular options are the monitor Quick Release, Rotating Ball Joint, and a Post Stop.
What are the mounting options available?
There are six mounting options available. Please refer to the Build-Your-Own model. Images and an explanation of each mounting option is available by clicking on the “M4 Mount Style" option.
What is the difference between a “Bolt-Through” mount and a “Grommet” mount?
Grommet mounts are designed for desks that are pre-drilled with a hole for mounting monitor arms and cable management. No drilling required. A bolt-through is for desk up to 1.5” thick only. It uses an under surface plate and heavy duty 5/8” bolt that you have to drill through the desk for. It can be used with existing grommet holes 5/8” to 3” in diameter. This is the strongest mounting option available.
What is the difference between the “Low-Profile” clamp mount and the standard clamp mount?
The low profile mount is for environments permitting minimal space for the clamp or when visual aesthetics require the clamp to be as unobtrusive as possible. (For example, facing an office entrance.) Generally speaking, we recommend going with the standard clamp mount for heavy monitors.
What post styles are available?
There are eight post styles available. Please refer to the Build-Your-Own model. Images and an explanation of each post style option are available by clicking on the “M4 Post Style” option.
Does the M4 have cable management?
Yes, all M4 monitor arm systems include cable management clips.
How quickly will the M4 monitor arm ship after I place my order?
The pre-configured models ship in about XX days after receipt of the order, while the Build-Your-Own take a bit longer and ship in XX days.

MONITOR POSITION INSTRUCTIONS
Height:
The top menu bars on the screen should be positioned at or slightly below eye level. You may have to adjust your chair height slightly. TIP: If you wear bifocals you may have to lower the monitor a few inches. You may also have to lower the the monitor so that the viewing area is about 3" above eye level if you use a 20" or larger monitor.
Angle:
Tilt the top of the monitor slightly away from you so that the base is slightly closer than the top. TIP: Tilting the screen back too far may cause glare from overhead lighting.
Brightness:
Assuming that your workspace has adequate lighting, adjust your monitor brightness so that it is about the same as the area behind it. Differences in brightness between your monitor and the surrounding area can be a source of eye fatigue and headaches.
Glare / Reflections:
Glare can cause headaches, eye strain, and fatigue. While staying within the height and tilt guidelines try to adjust your monitor to reduce glare. If you cannot accomplish a comfortable viewing screen, consider purchasing a glare screen.
Distance:
As a guideline, position the monitor at arm's length. If you are near or far-sighted, position the monitor slightly closer or farther so that you can easily view the characters on the screen without having to lean forward. TIP: The monitor arm can be moved closer to you when computing and easily pushed back when more workspace is required for writing or referencing documents. This will enable both proper positioning for computing tasks and add needed desk space when the computer is not in use.
Alignment:
The monitor should be centered with the mid-line of your body to minimize neck and torso rotation. Center the monitor with the keyboard, so that the monitor, the keyboard and you are all in alignment. The "H" key can be used as a center point to assist in proper centering of the keyboard and monitor.
Take Breaks!
Be sure to give your eyes frequent breaks by looking at least 20 feet away. This helps relax your eye muscles and allows your eyes to re-focus.
